Week 7

Knit - Poems Knit Tote

Crochet - Yashi Crocheted Tote

This week we have two totes.  The felted knit bag uses Wisdom Yarns’ Poems, a self-striping variegated yarn.
This is a nice large bag for a bigger project like a sweater.  The crocheted tote uses Universal Yarns Yashi,
raffia yarn.  This small tote would make a great sock project bag.

Week 6

Knit - The_Goodie_Bag_Hat

Crochet - Ribbed-Bun-Hat

If you’ve been knitting or crocheting for more than a year you’ve probably made a few hats.
I know I’ve sent out a few hat patterns too.  But with the latest craze for messy bun/ ponytail
hats I couldn’t resist adding to it.  The crochet pattern uses a dk weight yarn, of which we
have many, including Filature’s Zara, Ella Rae’s Cozy Soft or Cozy Bamboo, or Universal’s
Bamboo Pop, just to name a few.  The knit pattern uses a heavy worsted, such as Ella Rae’s
Seasons, Hikoo’s Simpliworsted, or Queensland’s Kathmandu Aran.  Keep your head and ears warm
while letting the pony tail fly!

Week 5

Knit - Canary Yellow Leg Warmers

Crochet - Alicia Legwarmers

I was thinking it was time for another sock pattern but found these leg warmers instead.
Both versions use worsted weight yarn, although the crocheted ones can also use a bulky yarn.
I like the buttons on the crocheted pair - very fancy.  A wool blend like Berroco’s Vintage
would make the perfect yarn for wither version. Or use Juniper Moon Farm’s Moonshine  or
Mirassol’s Sulka (both wool/alpaca/silk blends) for a little more luxury.

Week 4

Knit - Gina and Galway Worsted Brioche Cable Cowl

Crochet - Granada Afghan Pattern

In the spirit of New Year’s challenges, this week’s patterns are two very different projects
that will test your skills in both knitting and Tunisian crochet. These are both advanced
projects but would be well worth the time and effort.  The knit pattern is a brioche cowl
(I still can resist keeping this going) using Plymouth Yarns variegated wool Gina paired with
a solid worsted weight yarn.  The crochet afghan is a vintage pattern using a worsted weight yarn.
Any of the following would make warm and cozy afghans: Brown Sheep’s Lamb’s Pride or Lanaloft,
Ella Rae’s Classic Wool, or Berroco’s Vintage or Comfort.
