Week 38

Knit - Ballston Legwarmers

Crochet - Retro Rockstar Legwarmers

We’ve been abruptly shoved into fall after a string of 90 degree days. Cooler fall weather always makes
me want to jump into sweater and turtle necks.  So then when sitting at the desk all day I have a warm
body and cold legs and feet. This week’s leg warmers should help with that problem!  The knit version
features a fair isle design using Manos del Uruguay’s Silk Blend. The crochet version uses a chunky
weight yarn. James Brett’s Marble Chunky, Berroco’s Peruvia Quick, or Plymouth Yarns’ Baby Alpaca Grande,
would all work, to name just a few of the yarns available.

Week 37

Knit - Bidwell Baby Knit Vest Serendipity

Crochet - Boys Crochet Sweater

Something for boys this week!.  The knit pattern is an adorable vest for babies using
Brown Sheep’s Serendipity Tweed, a cotton/wool blend.  The pattern features several
different textural stitches to create interest in a striped design.  The crochet sweater
for young boys features an easy post stitch and color block design.  This pattern uses a
worsted weight yarn, so Berroco’s Comfort or Vintage, Filature’s Zara Plus, Karabella’s
Aurora 8, or Ella Rae’s Lace Merino Worsted, would all be great, kid friendly yarns.

Week 36

Knit - Knitcol Baby and Kids Stocking Cap

Crochet - Dreambaby DK Crochet Baby Hat

Every baby needs hats, the more the better.  Every crafter knows that, right? This week’s pattern
feature two Plymouth yarns.  The way too cute kid’s knit hats use KnitCol, a self-striping merino
wool DK yarn.  The crocheted baby hat features popcorns.  This pattern uses Dreambaby DK,  and would
look even cuter in Dreambaby Paintpot, also a self-striping yarn.

Week 35

Knit - Malemute Knit Shawl

Crochet - Comfort Men's Sweater

Although we’re heading into a hot week, it is the end of August and kids are starting school.
So sooner or later, we’ll be getting those cool fall evenings that call for something a little
extra to wear.  This week’s patterns are a bit of a challenge.  The huge aran crocheted poncho
uses Berroco’s Comfort, which we have in about 70 colors.  The knit shawl can be worn as a poncho
and uses three difference Berroco yarns.  We have both Folio and Cirrus in stock and you can
substitute the new Berroco Bento, a beautiful wool/silk blend, for the Kodiak.
